Tara Yoga aims to provide a deep and meaningful journey through the art and science of yoga. Simply put, we approach Yoga as a tool on the path to achieving peace within in the mind. The breath serves as the greatest friend on this path and is the seed to which we always return.  Our practice is rooted in Ananda Yoga – teachings based in the wisdom of Paramhansa Yogananda, author of Autobiography of a Yogi.

What can you expect from Tara Yoga? My sincerest wish is that a student will glimpse the deep beauty and integrity of her/his unique body. This Yoga is not about achieving that difficult posture or getting our breath “right”. It is about honouring who you are and where you are on your path. It is about growing by way of compassion and deepening your connection to yourself. And if all of that sounds just a little too airy for you, yes, you can expect to sweat and stretch as well!

The classes build on traditional asanas by moving in ways that feel organic and healthy for each individual.  There is a structure which includes pranayama (breathing exercises), asanas (physical poses), Yoga Nidra (deep relaxation) and meditation. Within this traditional structure, we find space to explore through music, martial arts, laughter, spontaneous movement, partner yoga and more.
